According to a new report from Opera Mediaworks, Android continues to make great strides as a top destination for mobile advertising.
Based on the data presented, Android now generates more mobile ad traffic for smart phones than it’s iOS counterpart, Apple’s iPhone.
Android claimed a 36 percent share of all ad impressions during the fourth quarter of 2013. In comparison, the iPhone captured a 28.7 percent share. Unfortunately for Android, however, once the iPad and iPod Touch are factored in, iOS is still the top player in mobile advertising.
Consistent with previous quarters, the United States is driving the majority of ad traffic and revenue on the Opera Media works platform. Frequent followers of our report watched as the U.S. share of this traffic decreased from approximately 64% last year at this time to the current 48.46%. However, in terms of monetization, the United States still drives over 70% of revenue, as it did last year.
